Joint logos

The Together With joint logo lockups are used on marketing pieces that work to connect care and coverage for Highmark BCBS members and those who use AHN. Use of these lockups requires proper approval, before use, on a project basis.

The Highmark BCBS/AHN Together With logos may only be used when:

  • Communicating the benefits or availability of a joint Highmark BCBS and AHN program, service, product or sponsorship; or,
  • Highmark BCBS chooses to launch new programs with AHN first, exclusively (possibly for a limited time) or jointly; or,
  • Highmark BCBS has a program that is jointly conceived of, designed, developed, or implemented with AHN for the benefit of Highmark’s members; or,
  • Highmark BCBS provides a grant to develop access or services for the benefit of its members; or,
  • Highmark BCBS is featuring AHN as one of the providers in its network.

The AHN/Highmark BCBS Together With logos may only be used when:

  • AHN launches new programs for Highmark BCBS members first or exclusively (if funded by Highmark BCBS); or,
  • An AHN service is jointly conceived of, designed, developed, or implemented with Highmark BCBS for the benefit of its members, even if it’s available to other AHN patients; or,
  • AHN is featuring Highmark BCBS as one of the health plans it accepts.

Other important requirements:

  • Joint logos are subject to other requirements, including those with tax and governance implications.
  • The standard brand license disclaimer must be included on materials where joint logos appear.

Joint logo approval process

  1. Be sure the business need is appropriate for use of a joint logo as outlined in the Rules For Use within the Joint Logo Guidelines and meets Highmark Inc./AHN guidelines for governance, tax, privacy, and other requirements.
  2. Specify which logo the creative team should use via:
    • Marketing Brief
    • Project Initiation Form
    • Workfront Intake
  3. Email the SVP of Strategic Marketing with your request to use a joint logo. It’s important to get approval before starting creative.
    • Use the subject line: Joint Logo Approval Need by (date)
    • Use the information template for project description (no attachments please)
  4. After developing materials, go through your regular legal approval, adding Christine McMillan, Will Pivik, and Diana Leech. Include the SVP of Strategic Marketing’s reply in your routing for legal to reference.
  5. Counsel, Health Compliance and Counsel, and Corporate Business will provide BCBSA approval. BCBSA approval can be provided on drafts for context/use.

This Alternate version is to be used only in situations where the limited width of the joint logo area prevents minimum readability in the horizontal format.

This will be reviewed and approved for use on a case-by-case basis.

CLEAR SPACE / MINIMUM SIZE

Use the “H” height from our mark to determined minimum clear space. Maintain clear space proportionately as the mark is enlarged or reduced in size.

Maintain a minimum H cap height of 1/4” for the preferred logo or 7/8” for the alternate logo so the mark is readable and undistorted.

For knocked-out versions, use the background color for cross and shield details.

Background colors or imagery should be as dark as possible to maximize contrast.

Do not use knocked-out versions on a busy background that will obscure the mark.

Do not apply a drop shadow to the marks.

Do not use alternate colors for any part of the mark.

Color system

Typography

Clean and straightforward, our fonts reflect the brand’s uncomplicated approach. We rely on two typefaces for most materials: the geometric sans Sofia Pro and the old style serif Plantin MT Pro. Used together, they create distinction and visual interest.


For co-branded AHN and Highmark or internal Highmark Health materials, Highmark Sans can be used as a display-only font on a case-by-case basis.
